In a quick, almost secret, midnight message, Liberal Infrastructure Minister McKenna and Edmonton Mayor Don Iveson invited media to a transit infrastructure announcement today at 8:30.

“They’ll be announcing money for more transit infrastructure,” said Amalgamated Transit Union President Steve Bradshaw, “at the same time as they’re the firing workers who clean the equipment. It’s unconscionable.”

“What we need” added Bradshaw “is the Federal Government to step in and help fund the operation of Transit Systems across the country. It’s not fair or reasonable to expect municipalities to shoulder the entire operational budget.”
